Kurzprofil

03/2022 - 09/2022

Volkswagen AG (Cariad/Diconium) (Remote, Team-Kollegen in Berlin, Stuttgart, Wolfsburg)

Xentral GmbH (Augsburg, Deutschland - Remote)

  • RolleScrum Master, Business Coaching, Strategy consulting
  • Teamgröße3 Developer Teams in 2 zwei Tribes.
  • CloudAWS
  • TechnologiePHP, MySQL
  • ProduktSaaS (B2B)
  • BrancheERP (Enterprise Resource Planning)

Ausgangssituation: Das Unternehmen erlebt rasanten Wachstum.

Aufgabe(n): Die Teams in Scrum unterstützen.

10/2020 - 03/2021

Path To Coaching (ICF-ACC, CTC/CEC Trainee)

  • Individuelles Coaching
  • Team Coaching
  • Coaching in agilen Organisationen
  • Executive Coaching

  • TechnologieJava
  • ProduktSaaS (B2B)
  • BrancheFinanz

Ausgangssituation: Das Development Team is an zwei Standorten verteilt, München und Graz.

  • TechnologieJava
  • ProduktFile-Sharing Suite (SaaS, B2B), Datensicherheit
  • BrancheData Governence

05/2019 - 07/2019

IT ERGO (Europäische Reiseversicherung, Münchener Rück) München

  • RolleScrum Master (Extern) im “Backoffice Team”
  • TeamgrößeBackend Team mit 15 Personen, vier Infrastruktur-Teams mit ca. 20 Mitgliedern. Zusammenarbeit mit Middle bis Top Management (ca. 8 Stakeholder)
  • CloudKeine Cloud
  • TechnologieSammlung an Legacy-Systemen. Oracle wie auch viele branchenspezifische Lösungen
  • ProduktSämtliche Bereiche einer Versicherung (Risk-Management, Prämienberechnung, Kunden-Support, Schadensverwaltung, Sales-Support, B2B-Anbindungen)
  • BrancheVersicherung

Profile

Creativity combined with business thinking has shaped my entire professional and academic path: while still studying Business Administration (WU Vienna) and Digital Art (University of Applied Arts Vienna), I worked in TV advertising, film and online projects from 1998 onwards.

Over time my focus shifted entirely to the online field. From 2008 to 2012 I was a partner in a start-up in Vienna and, at the same time and afterwards, worked on several large projects as Project Manager, Product Manager and Product Owner.

Developing complex online projects eventually led me to agile ways of working, which I have lived as a convinced agilist since 2014. In the role of Agile Coach I use my many years of experience to support others on their agile journey.

My way of working is characterised by pragmatism and a strong focus on reaching the goal. Combined with an infectious optimism and the leadership quality to take others along on the journey and include everyone in the team, this makes me a “Servant Leader”

Agile Coaching and Consulting - in Detail

02/2025 - 01/2026

enercity AG (Hybrid, on site in Hanover and remote)

  • RoleAgile Coach, Scrum Master, consultant to the head of department
  • Team size4 teams with approx. 22 members
  • ProductIntroduction of a new data platform, PowerBI rollout, introduction of Data Governance & Data Quality standards, Master Data Management (Golden Record)
  • TechnologySnowflake, dbt, Azure Data Lake, Data Vault, Informatica, SQL, Python, SAP, Redshift, Kubernetes, PowerBI, Tableau, GitHub

Starting point: The Data Engineering department is growing strongly; 3 new teams are being formed, focusing on Data Dev Ops, Data Governance & Quality and Master Data Management. The company as well as individual colleagues have little experience with agility and Scrum. The company is launching several large strategic initiatives, several large projects are started in parallel - internal resources are increased and external staff are brought in.

Tasks: Introducing Scrum, coaching the data engineers as well as the new Product Owners; team building with a strong focus on self-organisation of the teams; adapting processes and responsibilities. Close consulting of the new head of department in developing the entire department.

Outcome(s):

  • Successful implementation of a new data platform, delivered with Scrum
  • A new Master Data Management (MDM)
  • Introduction of the Data Governance Framework
  • Scrum introduction & process establishment: Successful roll-out of Scrum in 4 teams; ensuring that planning processes and roadmaps not only exist but are actively “lived” in day-to-day work.
  • PO coaching & enablement: Targeted coaching and enablement of a new Product Owner to take full ownership of the role.
  • Scaling & growth: Active support of the rapid growth of the department; Scrum helped significantly to identify and overcome obstacles
  • Structural clarity: Substantial support in defining roles and distributing responsibilities efficiently within the new structures.
  • Data Strategy Execution: Successful delivery of a new data platform using Scrum, as well as implementation of Master Data Management and a Data Governance framework.

  • RoleAgile Coach, consultant to the project lead / technical lead
  • Team sizeProject lead / technical lead (+ development team in the background)
  • ProductAggregation, modelling and distribution of the metadata of the NHM collection and of many other partner museums in Austria
  • TechnologyAPI, Javascript, UI/UX

Starting point: A team of approx. 6 people is tasked with developing an aggregator. The entire collection of the Natural History Museum Vienna, as well as of many partner museums, is: 1) captured (aggregated), 2) managed (modelling) and 3) passed on to European databases/aggregators. The team develops APIs and imports and passes on data. The database also has a user interface. Team and task have grown over time, and now there is a wish to bring much more transparency and organisation into both the daily work and the strategic level (roadmap, releases, backlog)

Task(s): Consulting the project lead. Pain points and needs are discussed; introducing Scrum is considered a possible scenario.

Outcome(s): Ongoing

Artificial Museum (On site in Vienna)

  • RoleAgile Coach, consultant to the founders
  • Team sizeOne team (2 founders (PO and techie), 4 developers)
  • ProductOnline exhibition format for AR artworks, digital art
  • TechnologyAugmented Reality, AGPL

Starting point: The product is growing and so is the team. The founders face new challenges in this new situation: there is a strong need to bring more structure into the organisation and more transparency and predictability into daily work, and to sharpen release management and the roadmap. In particular, there is a need to strengthen team cohesion and build up leadership. Furthermore, multiple workloads need to be identified and distributed within the team, and the distribution of knowledge and responsibility needs to be made visible and solutions found. Another point is sharpening roles and responsibilities/talents, and clarifying priorities, roadmap and release management

Task(s): Consulting the founders, discussing pain points and needs, presenting proposals for change. Scrum overview for the founders and the team; introducing Scrum; consulting on roadmap, planning, backlog management, development process (workflow) optimisation, leadership support

Outcome(s): Fast introduction of Scrum, high acceptance by the team; many small changes in many areas are quickly implemented by the founders: leadership communication (roadmap), backlog, sprint planning, focus on important strategic goals at team level

UNIQA (Uniqa Insurance Group AG) (Hybrid, remote and on site in Vienna)

  • RoleAgile Coach, Scrum Master in SAFe, support of the teams and the Scrum Masters
  • Team sizeOne ART with 7 teams. Working with 3 teams and 2 Scrum Masters
  • ProductA CRM (sales) tool used by more than 20,000 insurance advisors and brokers. A B2B2C product.
  • Technology“PEGA” platform, Java-based framework for insurance companies. PEGA

Starting point: Fast growth and rapid scaling over the past 3 years. Work is done in SAFe, in one ART with 150 members; 6 development teams (at 3 locations, internal and external staff, different levels of knowledge and experience, different cultural backgrounds, English as the project language), and a further, seventh team is being started. The challenges lie in many areas: keeping to scope (planning and delivery), unclear workflows, unclear roles, untypical team composition, quality issues (system integration level, requirements engineering issues), high turnover and knowledge transfer. Another challenge is the low agile maturity in the ART, and work is done in a mix of “classic” project management and an iterative approach.

Task(s): Analysis and optimisation of the development process; training and guiding the new Product Owners, trainings for several development teams; also helping to start a new team (objectives, roadmap, MVP definition, agility and Scrum trainings, onboardings), assessment of agile maturity, preparing improvement proposals, introducing velocity measurement, estimation workshops, team building workshops

Volkswagen AG (Cariad/Diconium) (Remote, team colleagues in Berlin, Stuttgart, Wolfsburg)

  • RoleScrum Master in SAFe, support of the RTE, collaboration in the SoS (Scrum of Scrums)
  • Team sizeUI/UX team and a system team (architecture team, pipelines); both teams work in one ART (Agile Release Train). The focus of my assignment is introducing Scrum in two inexperienced teams within SAFe, plus close collaboration with Product Owners and ongoing coaching. I am also active in the “agile circle” at solution level
  • ProductA tool for internal use by other domain experts, e.g. safety engineers
  • TechnologyMPS Language Workbench for metaprogramming, by Jetbrains

Starting point: VW AG has set goals for future cars: self-driving cars, connected cars. In addition, more and more software is to be developed in-house. Development is led by a newly created “competence centre” for digital products, Cariad (6,500 experts from all “digital areas”, based in Berlin). Further agencies from the group are involved, e.g. Diconium (1,500 experts in software development and digitalisation)
In this case I am part of the “architectural” ART, which develops a tool for internal use. This ART is growing enormously: a year ago a single team was commissioned, and one year later there are already 17 teams (distributed teams across all of Germany and the Czech Republic). The ART will continue to grow rapidly.

Task(s): Introducing Scrum in two inexperienced teams, as Scrum teams within SAFe. To a large extent close collaboration with “hands-on” coaching. Support with PI planning, objectives, roadmaps, epics and backlog creation, on team level as well as ART level. My approach was to build understanding of Scrum and agility, to get colleagues excited about the purpose and benefits of Scrum and to accompany them in their daily work. I was also in close exchange with the RTE, actively working on solutions concerning the entire ART. To a limited extent I am also active on “general agile topics” at solution level.

Outcome(s): Within only 4 weeks, according to the Product Owner, the situation in the UI/UX team was “turned around”: from a team overwhelmed by its task it became a stable team that increasingly plans and delivers its sprints in a self-organised way together with the PO. Because it was commissioned as an external contractor (and due to internal instability), the architecture team had other challenges to overcome - here the transparency of Scrum helps to assess the current situation and allows the team to make adjustments.

08/2021 - 02/2022

Xentral GmbH (Augsburg, Germany - remote)

  • RoleScrum Master, business coaching, strategy consulting
  • Team size3 developer teams in 2 tribes. Scrum already introduced but not lived - missing knowledge, missing experience. Introduction of LeSS scaling in one tribe with 2 squads. Development coaching of middle management. Consulting of middle and top management
  • CloudAWS
  • TechnologyPHP, MySQL
  • ProductSaaS (B2B)
  • IndustryERP (Enterprise Resource Planning)

Starting point: The company is growing rapidly. In less than 9 months the number of employees rose from approx. 30 to almost 280. Missing structures and processes. Scrum is used in some places, but rather poorly.

Task(s): Supporting the teams in Scrum. Building understanding of Scrum and agility and supporting and accompanying daily work in the role of Scrum Master. Close coaching of the junior Product Owners.
“Executive coaching” of middle management as well as consulting on current topics (product vision, roadmap), and hands-on support in critical situations (release planning and related acute situations).

Outcome(s): 1) Within 4 weeks, according to the Senior Product Manager, the situation was “turned around”: from a chaotic and disoriented team to a stable team; sprint burndown increased from 20% to over 80%. 2) Support in creating two new squads - LeSS approach agreed with the tribe (one shared backlog, 2 Product Owners, 2 squads). Knowledge-transfer strategy developed with the tribe (severe gaps in documentation and knowledge in the teams). 3) Decisively influenced the growing together of the Product and Engineering tribes through executive coaching of their heads. 4) Strongly influenced the work of the P&E circle (Product & Engineering) -> helped to refocus in acute situations, jointly introduced release planning. 5) Currently in its early stages: support in “redefining the product”, as well as consulting C-level/middle management on strategic questions (product vision, roadmap, reorganisation)

Path To Coaching (ICF-ACC, CTC/CEC Trainee)

My goal is to become a certified trainer (CTC/CEC) with the Scrum Alliance. There are currently around 400 such trainers worldwide. The coaching education is part of this path.

In November 2020 I started my education as an ICF-certified business coach (ICF-ACC) as well as activities in the following areas:

  • Individual coaching
  • Team coaching
  • Coaching in agile organisations
  • Executive coaching

During and after this time I coached several people from my network, including the managing director of an e-commerce company with an annual turnover of more than one billion euros.

10/2019 - 01/2020

Wealthpilot GmbH (Assignment in Munich and Graz)

  • RoleScrum Master (external)
  • Team size2 DevOps teams at two locations with 12 members, 6 stakeholders outside the team
  • CloudDATEV and AWS
  • TechnologyJava
  • ProductSaaS (B2B)
  • IndustryFinance

Starting point: The development team is spread over two locations, Munich and Graz. The newly founded team in Munich has not found its connection; there are new, inexperienced Product Owners

Task: Making the teams at both locations agile, introducing Scrum, conveying knowledge (knowledge transfer) and understanding of Scrum and agility, and thereby enabling work in an agile environment. Helping the teams with self-organisation, accompanying them in goal setting and in daily implementation work, and leading in an agile way where needed. Coaching the product management team, coaching the Product Owners, supporting the whole organisation in agility, especially the involved teams such as support and sales

Outcome: 50% velocity increase, successful Scrum introduction, cross-location standards introduced, workflow revised, the newly created team in Munich was successfully integrated and enabled, knowledge transfer completed successfully

08/2019 - 10/2019

Brainloop AG (Diligent, USA) Munich

  • RoleScrum Master (external) for the DevOps team, consultant for middle/top management
  • Team sizeOne DevOps team with 10 members and approx. 10 stakeholders outside the team
  • CloudBrainloop itself is a cloud provider for highly confidential documents, with correspondingly high security standards
  • TechnologyJava
  • ProductFile-sharing suite (SaaS, B2B), data security
  • IndustryData Governance

Starting point: A DevOps culture is being introduced in the company, starting with a 10-person team. Development is fragmented across several departments, teams and product versions as well as individual projects. Releases are severely delayed, enormous technical debt, missing leadership.

Development works in Scrum, but (quote) “not in an agile way” in approx. 7 teams. Work happens without scaling/synchronisation between the teams (!) and in a very inefficient manner. Product management/product ownership has no reliable strategy, the vision is missing. Planning and roadmaps exist in individual areas, but because of the dependencies (and without working synchronisation) planning is not reliable.

Task: Agile coaching and daily work as Scrum Master in the DevOps team. Collaboration with more than 10 stakeholders/requesters outside the team.

Outcome: Agility evaluation (Agility Maturity Assessment), recommendations for an agile transformation (change) of the company and its development departments. Supporting the DevOps team failed due to various organisational impediments (turnover, missing strategic and operational direction)

05/2019 - 07/2019

IT ERGO (European travel insurance, Munich Re) Munich

  • RoleScrum Master (external) in the “back-office team”
  • Team sizeBackend team with 15 people, four infrastructure teams with approx. 20 members. Working with middle to top management (approx. 8 stakeholders)
  • CloudNo cloud
  • TechnologyCollection of legacy systems. Oracle as well as many industry-specific solutions
  • ProductAll areas of an insurance company (risk management, premium calculation, customer support, claims management, sales support, B2B integrations)
  • IndustryInsurance

Starting point: A dysfunctional Scrum team; quote from the Product Owner: “Scrum doesn't work here”. IT as a whole is paralysed by technical debt, and at the same time many people are leaving.

Task: Improving the Scrum implementation in the backend team; as a side task, preparing the agile transformation of the four infrastructure teams (approx. 15-20 people), consulting management, improving planning and increasing release frequency

Outcome: In the backend team a better understanding of Scrum, a noticeable improvement of the Scrum events (Scrum meetings), sharper focus on important topics; splitting the oversized backend team into smaller teams and a deeper Scrum implementation did not succeed. In the infrastructure team: the concept of agile working was introduced to management and team leads; due to the acute technical and staffing situation the introduction of agile working was postponed. Recommendation to management for a far-reaching “agile transformation” of the company on several levels (IT management, demand management, establishing agile leadership).

03/2018 - 03/2019

CyberSolutions GmbH (Cyberport Part II, Burda Group) Munich

  • RoleAgile Coach, Scrum Master (external)
  • Team sizesupported one development team as Scrum Master and introduced Scrum to a further, new team (data science)
  • CloudAWS
  • TechnologySAP Hybris, Adobe Experience Manager, Java, JavaScript
  • ProductWeb shop
  • Industrye-commerce, retail

Starting point: The development department in Munich was spun off from the company (Cyberport) and acts as an independent service provider, offering its own e-commerce platform as a solution on the market. Cyberport (the parent company) is now one of its customers

Task: Supported one development team (tech: Hybris and Adobe Experience Manager) as Scrum Master, synchronised it with the DevOps team and introduced Scrum to a further, new team. I also coached other business stakeholders in the company in Agile and Scrum. In total: 5 new developers, 2 new POs, 2 testing managers, 2 QA managers, 1 new business analyst, 5 new business stakeholders, in addition to the existing dev team. Support in introducing the newly created role of Head of Development. Synchronisation of several teams (following the LeSS approach)

Outcome: Shorter release cycles, from 4 to 2.5 weeks. The number of hotfixes dropped from 5 to 0 per release. The agile web development team and non-agile teams (DevOps and SAP) were brought into a joint release planning, a shared workflow was worked out, and mutual impediments/dependencies were identified and resolved. Using Kanban, support topics were introduced in parallel to Scrum development, with a stable split between development and support work

01/2016 - 02/2018

Cyberport.de (Burda Group) Munich, Dresden

  • RoleAgile Coach, Scrum Master (external)
  • Team size3 dev teams with 30 developers, a Product Owner team with one PO and five business analysts, involving up to 25 stakeholders
  • CloudAWS
  • TechnologySAP Hybris, Adobe Experience Manager, Java, JavaScript
  • ProductWeb shop
  • Industrye-commerce, retail

Starting point: The Burda Group founds an e-commerce competence centre and builds it up as part of Cyberport. The first project is moving the Cyberport web shop to a new version, new technology and new infrastructure, with old and new teams. The developers are located at 6 sites

Task during the “ramp-up phase”: Introducing Scrum, Scrum coaching for approx. 30 developers with little to no Scrum experience: three QA, one Product Owner, five business analysts, approx. 6-8 stakeholders (management, requesters from business departments, UX/UI specialists).

Close coaching and daily support of the Product Owner and the business analyst team, close collaboration and alignment within the PO/BA team, coordination with technical architects. Focus areas: roadmap, epic estimation, Definition of Ready, Definition of Done, release planning, MVP, risk estimation, workflow adjustments, introducing custom issue types

Task during the “post go-live phase”: Agile transformation of a further part of the company.

Outcome: Reliable release planning and a roadmap were successfully introduced. The scope was more than 3,000 person-days. Successful relaunch. Requesters from several business departments/areas (marketing, SAP, UX/UI, purchasing, customer support, IT) were brought together in an agile “Demand Management Board”. Up to 25 requesters were organised in a “Product Owner Team”. For roadmap and prioritisation a 6-person steering committee was established, along with a transparent roadmap and prioritisation. Regular communication across the whole company. Approx. 25 business stakeholders were coached in agility and Scrum. Further focus areas were backlog management and writing user stories

07/2014 - 06/2015

Ubimet Group Vienna (Product Owner)

  • RoleProduct Owner
  • Team size2 dev teams with approx. 10 members
  • Cloudown cloud solution
  • TechnologyPHP, MySQL, proprietary algorithms for weather calculations, proprietary data management solutions
  • ProductMeteorological services for the public as well as for B2B customers (newspapers, web portals), paid services (severe weather warnings for B2C and B2B2C customers), advertising management
  • IndustryMeteorology

Started as Product Manager at UBIMET.com, quickly introduced Scrum and moved into the role of Product Owner. Responsible for all B2C portals of the company in the DACH region. The portfolio consisted of 2 portals that rank among the top 20 portals by traffic in Austria. The portals came in many variants: 3 country versions (D-A-CH), for several platforms (desktop and mobile) as well as their apps (iOS and Android). I was the pioneer of introducing Scrum in the company, and together with the external partner the project was switched to Scrum.

The goal was to further develop a product vision aligned with the management and to introduce a roadmap.
In addition, the inherited, confusing backlog had to be cleaned up and software burdened by technical debt had to be stabilised.
